A friend of ours though raves about Thomson the thing that sealed the deal for them was last year when the volacano in Iceland was disrupting flights they really looked passengers.
The certainly bought our friends loyalty with their customer service and she will not hear of going via P and O. To this end I asked her to write a review and this is her thoughts:-
As is normal these days we could have done without the photographs of us looking wilted and tired from travelling before we got on the ship.
We got to our room and were overall pretty pleased with the size and facilities. Soon after we met our cabin steward who straight away asked if he could do anything to help so we used the 24 hour ironing service that was available to customers who had booked a suite. Great service the items came back immaculate in time for the gala dinner.
The dining was fantastic, most notably on the Gala night and we always went to the Meridian restaurant in the evening as the 6 course meals were excellent and there was always lots of choice, even for the kids.
The general pace of dining was good we were not rushed along nor did we have to wait a long time for each course. Our Breakfast and lunchs were mostly spent in the Lido restaurant which offered a great range of very nice food , served by a happy smiling staff who were keen to help.
Our room service was also excellent and we had no problems with the accommodation. We were very comfortable and slept really well, towels were changed and clean every day and off-white ( cream ) to go with the decor which some people might mistake for something else!
Every evening we had either fruit, flowers, or fruit covered chocolate & marzipan delivered to our door before dinner which was a really nice touch. This was probably because of the category of the room we booked. We have been on the Thomson Destiny and Sapphire and never experianced this as part of the service.
The entertainment was enjoyable and there was lots going on for everyone's tastes. The entertainment team worked hard and did 2 shows most nights in the Broadway Lounge and then went on to sing and perform elsewhere.
Certainly no complaints about the cruise part of the holiday which was simply fantastic.
Thomson are better than P and O
So out of ten poeple now that I have spoken to the votes go like this:-
P and O Smaller Ships - 5
Queen Mary 2 - 2
P and O larger Ships - 2
Thomson - 1
Tongue in cheek there!
